Hi there, I just wanted to say, I disagree. Your point doesn't make any sense.|
Hi there, how's it going? Just shared this post with a colleague, we had a good laugh.|
Incredible points. Great arguments. Keep up the good effort.|
This information is invaluable. Where can I find out more?|
Highly descriptive post, I loved that a lot. Will there be a part 2?|
Outstanding quest there. What occurred after? Good luck!|
I'd like to find out more? I'd like to find out some additional information.|
Great article, just what I was looking for.||

<b>Note to spammer: I think you're supposed to select one at at time to leave at the end of a blog post, not copy and paste the entire "possible replies" script. - Kris</b>

Check out my new book, Women Without Children, on Amazon.com. An ebook copy is only 2.99! Below is an idea of the book's premise.

Liz, Diana, and Katie are three women living very different lives in three different parts of the country. Yet, unbeknownst to them, they share one very common thread; the same decision to live a life without children. Though each has made the same decision, each has come to her own conclusion for very unique, personal reasons of her own…consciously or subconsciously.

The societal pressures to conform to what has been deemed the “norm” during their child-bearing years sometimes weighs heavily on their hearts, minds and souls causing them to question their common choice and perhaps even crater under the heft of the spoken and unspoken expectations of the world around them.

I buy lots of ebooks. Started buying Baen books in html in the late 90's.

I bought one for $15.00 today. ( wont be out in paperback for months)
I am paying extra to get it early. Most of time I wait until release date and buy at $6.00

Bought 4 at 2.99 ea today(on special part of multi book series)

Skipped some 9.99 and 11.99 books. (New paper backs versions under $7.00)

The last set irks me. No way am I going to pay more for an ebook than the new paperback price

Yeah - that "cool" factor is debatable. :) I think the cool factor is having readers who like your writing, no matter how they get it. But, I agree with you that either way, you have to work hard to make it. (Well...usually.) But, also, it has to be remembered that hard work is certainly no guarantee that you'll "make it," but you can usually be pretty sure that without it, you won't.

You might want to brace yourself and do some more self-promotion. The quality of the work will speak better for itself when more people are reading it. I've found people aren't as likely to share "Read this!" enthusiasm as you hope they would be. You don't necessarily have to tweet or Facebook about every success you have, every review you receive, but you might want to do some PR that a PR person would do for you: send press releases, find local radio programs interested in interviewing local authors (especially if your writing in any way relates to current events - find the angle), and even trying for local TV morning shows. Write some local magazines and newspapers, too, and point out why a feature about you/your book would be of interest to their reading audience.

Awesome post. I am a self published indie writer. I think what we are going to see as the publishing world changes is a flood of folks who have the easy money mentality about getting a book out there. All I have to do is post it up on Amazon, or Smashwords and sit back and let the cash roll in. They are also going to approach it from the aspect of "I can write a book a year and still be famous". The people who are making real money in the indie publishing world are the ones who work hard at it. They write several hours a day, every day. They market themselves. And they get editors. (Okay there is some debate if they have editors or not but if their serious they have one) Their first few book covers may be a bit primitive, but as they start making money they get professional covers done. The cool factor is in sitting back and saying "I'm a published author". The reality is you have to work hard to make it.
